About

Since moving to the Mid North Coast, from Sydney, Ainslie has drawn inspiration from the landscape of her home – the sea and the bush. She is particularly interested in exploring the order, irregularity, imperfection and beauty of the landscape.

Drawing on elements of the landscape, Ainslie’s work is often about rhythm, through repetition of line and simplification of an image towards abstraction.

Ainslie is “acutely aware of the reduced opportunity for artists to exhibit their work in rural New South Wales” and entered the $35,000 Country Energy Art Prize as a means of obtaining wider exposure for her work. She was also a finalist in 2004.

Ainslie has held several exhibitions in Sydney, Canada and on the Mid North Coast. She is currently represented in collections in Sydney, the Kempsey area, The Lodge and private collections.

She has also had two solo shows, exhibited work on paper in Victoria and was involved in a community art project called ‘Walking the Street’.

Ainslie is currently represented by Sydney Town Art, Darlington, Sydney; Wonderland Gallery, Kempsey; Kempsey Iguana Blue, Kempsey and The Lodge, Gladstone.
